Game Terms

Grimoire: The Storyteller's book/view showing all true characters and tokens.

In Play: A character that is assigned to a player in this game.

Not In Play: Characters not assigned - can be used as bluffs.

Bluffs: 3 not-in-play characters shown to Demon for fake claiming.

Night Order: The sequence in which characters wake during night.

Red Herring: Fortune Teller's false positive - a good player who pings as Demon.

Status Effects

Poisoned: Ability malfunctions. May receive false info. Does NOT know they're poisoned.

Drunk: Like poisoned, but permanent. Thinks they're a Townsfolk but has no ability.

Protected: Monk's protection - survives Demon attack this night only.

Dead: Cannot nominate. Has 1 final vote token. Can still talk.

Ghost Vote: Dead player's single remaining vote for the rest of the game.

Character Types

Townsfolk: Good team. Have helpful abilities. Win by executing the Demon.

Outsider: Good team but with hindering abilities. Still want good to win.

Minion: Evil team. Support the Demon. Know who the Demon is.

Demon: Evil team leader. Kills at night. Evil wins if Demon survives to 2 players.

Special Mechanics

Registers As: For info abilities, Spy may "register as" good/Townsfolk. Recluse may "register as" evil/Minion/Demon.

Starpass: When Imp kills themselves, a Minion becomes the new Imp.

Execution Tie: If two players tie for most votes, no execution occurs.

Mayor Victory: If 3 players alive and no execution, good wins (if Mayor alive & not poisoned).

Scarlet Woman Trigger: If Demon dies with 5+ players alive, Scarlet Woman becomes Demon.

Hand Signals (for silent info)

Numbers: Hold up fingers for counts (Chef, Empath).

Pointing: Point to players for "these players" info.

Thumbs up/down: Yes/No for Fortune Teller.

Character tokens: Show token to indicate a character.

Shake head: "Zero" or "None in play" (Librarian).

Good Wins: Execute the Demon during the day
Evil Wins: Only 2 players remain alive (or Saint executed)
Mayor Win: 3 players alive, no execution = Good wins

Dead Players: Stay in game, can talk, have 1 final vote token.

Washerwoman: Strong initial data - learns 1 of 2 players is a specific Townsfolk.

Investigator: Narrows evil candidates - learns 1 of 2 players is a specific Minion.

Chef: Geographic clues - counts pairs of neighboring evil players.

Empath: Ongoing deduction - learns how many neighbors are evil each night.

Fortune Teller: Demon hunting - asks about 2 players each night (has Red Herring).

Slayer: Once per game, publicly choose player - if Demon, they die instantly!

Imp: The Demon - kills each night. Good wins when Imp is executed.

Baron: Setup: +2 Outsiders, -2 Townsfolk. Messes with expected counts!

Spy: Sees Grimoire, knows all characters. Can register as GOOD to info roles!

Poisoner: Poisons 1 player/night - their ability malfunctions without knowing.

Scarlet Woman: Becomes Demon if Imp dies with 5+ players alive.

Spy + Info Roles: Spy can appear as Townsfolk to Washerwoman, Librarian, Investigator - spreading false info!

Recluse + Info Roles: Recluse may appear as Minion/Demon - creating false positives!

Poisoner + Anyone: Poisoned players get FALSE information but don't know it!

Imp Starpass: If Imp kills themselves, a Minion becomes the new Imp!

Monk Protection: Monk-protected players survive Demon attack that night.

โ€ข Only alive players may nominate

โ€ข Dead players may be nominated

โ€ข Each player can nominate once AND be nominated once per day

โ€ข Alive players can vote as many times as they want

โ€ข Dead players have ONE vote for the rest of the game

โ€ข Vote succeeds if votes โ‰ฅ half of alive players (rounded up)

โ€ข Player with most votes is executed (ties = no execution)
